POGGE

So we have a small confession to make.

We love Justin Pogge.

We know that as Leaf fans, we're probably the only two left in LeafsNation who still have hope for him and want him to stay in Toronto because we actually think he has a good future, but we like it that way.

He has now inked a one year redemption deal with the Blue and White. Two way, which means he can get called up, worth US$605,000. Some may argue it's the most blatent waste of cap space. Whatever. We like it.

The thing is, he does have potential. We don't know if you see it, but we see it. It takes goalies longer to mature in order to play in the NHL because of the mental capacity it takes to become a starting goalie. You always get thrown under the bus if a game goes bad. You have the responsibility to carry an entire team on your back. Last time we checked, most 22 year old guys were in their fifth year of university still living with their parents and getting wasted every night at the campus pub. They weren't signing deals with the biggest team in hockey (admit it) or having the horrendous Toronto media eat their spleen for breakfast because of a bad game.

So lay off the dude's back.

Toronto has a tendancy to ruin player's potential. Let's hope that doesn't happen with Pogge. He's a good kid with good skill and we'd hate to see that go to waste.
